The Line Between Web & Desktop Continues To Blur
With greater ease and possibly only a few lines of code, web publishers are going to soon be able to implement desktop features with Yahoo!’s BrowserPlus. http://browserplus.yahoo.com/
Drag-and-drop files from the desktop to your web page, alter images from the web, or my favorite, converting text to speech.
Instead of the annoying instant message alerts, I might finally have my favorite celebrity read to me my instant messages.
It’s quite amazing to me how much is being done to enable desktop capabilities in a more seemless web experience. W3i, Adobe, Google, Yahoo!, Firefox, Microsoft, and others have all increased the velocity of innovation here.
Now that the platform is becoming simpler, I look forward to seeing what innovations publishers will come up with and expect that the demand for these capabilities to continue to rise.
