The W3i Mobile App Ad Platform Merges the Power of Free App Promotions with Mobile Display Advertising

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Minneapolis, Minn. July 7, 2011- W3i, a leading network for app distribution and monetization, announces the launch of a new platform that provides new revenue streams and distribution methods for app developers. The W3i Mobile App Ad Network (MAAP) is now accepting beta partners.

Responding to developers seeking new revenue streams and methods of acquiring users, the W3i MAAP merges the traditional model of display advertising with the high conversion power of daily app deals.

In market testing, W3i found that consumers presented with a daily app offer converted at a much higher rate than just a mobile display ad.

“Our goal at W3i is to provide app developers diversity in their options for getting their apps discovered,” says Andy Johnson, CEO, W3i. “We’re committed to constantly evolving our network and are excited to unveil this next step in the growing mobile economy.”

With W3i MAAP, users receive a limited-time-only deal; a free app. W3i’s MAAP provides a variety of delivery options for publishers and advertisers including banners and notifications tied to action as well as control of messaging and layout.  The first W3i MAAP feed available for app developers focuses on delivering a “free game of the day” promotion where a new free game is featured every 24 hours.

Developers of multiple, top 25 ranked iOS games have already joined the W3i MAAP beta program. Developers interested in the W3i MAAP beta can apply to join the program by visiting http://www.w3i.com/maapbeta/

Despite recent challenges developers faced in distributing apps on the iOS platform, W3i’s MAAP carries the W3i tradition of intelligently connecting people to apps by providing developers with access to quality users and the insight necessary to grow their app businesses.

SCSU students gain real world, hands on marketing experience with W3i

Monday, April 25th, 2011

St. Cloud, Minn. April 25, 2011- When W3i, a leading distribution and monetization network for app developers needed to kick start marketing for its latest product, FlipToast, they didn’t turn to a high-rise agency in downtown Minneapolis. The company, known for its innovative thinking reached out to St. Cloud State University.

Fliptoast is an application that instantly serves up the Facebook experience giving users the freedom to do other things on their computer without having to be on their Facebook page.

“We knew we needed to understand the demographic that made Facebook huge, college students. With St. Cloud State’s tradition of outstanding marketing, public relations and business programs it was a no-brainer that we reach out to the University,” says Shivani Khanna, Manager of Software Development at W3i and FlipToast creator.

W3i partnered with the St. Cloud State University chapter of the American Marketing Association, to brainstorm ways to increase awareness among college students. Additionally, AMA collaborated with W3i to gather feedback on the user experience.

“Working with W3i gave our members valuable, hands on experience to sharpen their marketing skills and provide professional development,” says Chad Erickson, President of St. Cloud State AMA.

W3i, which has a strong tie to St. Cloud State, collaborates frequently with the university. W3i founders, Ryan Weber and Robert Weber are both St. Cloud State alumni, and W3i actively recruits on campus.

“W3i is lucky to have three major universities in our community. It enables us to regularly collaborate with students and faculty,” says Melissa Kron, Manager of Human Resources. “Opportunities like the AMA/W3i partnership provide students hands on learning while bringing fresh ideas, perspectives and energy into our office.”

W3i Mobile’s New AppAllStar Stands Out From The App Recommendation Herd

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Minneapolis, Minn. March 31, 2011- W3i, a leading distribution and monetization network for app developers, announces a new solution to help consumers weed through the mess of app recommendation services. AppAllStar provides consumers a one stop shop for quality daily game apps.

AppAllStar features apps only after they pass a series of stress points ranking their quality.

In recent months, dozens of new services have popped up offering daily app deals to consumers. With so many apps available in the App Store®, these services have flooded consumers with lack- luster recommendations, AppAllStar solves that dilemma.

Users can join the AppAllStar league through a mobile app, website and website widgets syndicated across select app review sites.

Aside from quality tested content, AppAllStar provides a clean and focused user experience allowing users to quickly gain access to free content and get on with their day.

“The problem we saw with the services in the market currently was that they promote anything. We like to think app users have a higher expectation for quality, even from free apps,” says Melissa Johnson, AppAllStar Product Manager.

About W3i: W3i increases revenue and distribution for consumer applications. W3i’s solutions use InstallIQ technology for recommending PC and mobile applications that users value.  InstallIQ was optimized on more than 500 million app installs–including more than 120 million in 2010.
